21st CCLC Requirements
Project Period
The 21st CCLC grant is a 5 year grant from July 1, 2017 - June 30, 2022.
Operations
School Age Child Care Registration (SACC), if applicable.
Create a detailed weekly schedule of activities that includes activity times & locations.
Programming
Offer programming during extended hours. More than 75% of Centers must offer services at least 15 hours a week on average and provide services when school is not in session, such as during the summer and on holidays.
Programs reflect the specific needs and interests of the target population to be served.
Link with the school day to ensure consistency of curricular themes.
Partner with CBOs to deliver services.
Outcomes
Meet target enrollment. Students must participate in at least 30 hours of programming to be counted as an enrolled participant.
Regular student attendance of 30 times or more / minimum of 90 hours per year.
Parents/caregivers attend and/or are engaged in targeted services during the year.
Objectives
Participants of 21st Century Community Learning Center Programs will demonstrate educational and social benefits and exhibit positive behavioral changes.
Quality Assurance
Staff attend required professional development and capacity-building activities upon request.
Collaborate with independent evaluators to complete the Annual Performance Reports (APRs).
Use the NYSAN Quality Self Assessment Tool (QSA) to reflect and improve programs.
Achievement: Students regularly participating in the program will show continuous improvement in achievement through measures such as test scores, grades and/or teacher reports.
Behavior: Regular attendees in the program will show continuous improvements on measures such as school attendance, classroom performance and decreased disciplinary actions or other adverse behaviors.
Eligible Applicants
Public school districts, BOCES, charter schools, private schools, nonprofit agencies, city or county government agencies, faith-based organizations, institutions of higher education, Indian tribe(s) or tribal organization(s), and for-profit corporations.
At least 2/3 of the students an applicant is proposing to serve must attend:
- schools eligible for schoolwide programs under Title I
- schools with at least 40 percent of students eligible for free or reduced priced lunch; and
the families of these students.
